Event Schedule Details
Thursday, 11th July
Race Pack pick up
All riders who are in Townsville on Thursday can pick up their Race packs from 4WDS Central, next to Mike Carney Toyota from 15:00-17:30. Please park across the road at Domain or in the Spotlight parking lot and walk to 4WD Central. We highly recommend to pick up your pack on Thursday to avoid a big rush on Saturday morning in Paluma. This will greatly reduce the volunteer workload on Saturday morning and will avoid the last minute rush at Paluma.

Friday, 12th July
Camping
Everyone who has booked in for Friday night camping can check in at Event HQ in Hidden Valley and set up their camp. Smokin' & Grillin' Townsville and Woodfired Delights and the bar will be set up at Hidden Valley HQ on Friday night, please bring cash. Additional food trucks will be available for Saturday night and Sunday morning. The SES is selling a BBQ Breakfast on Sunday morning.
Saturday 13th July - Race Day
Car Parking
Paluma
• Parking will commence at the Hidden Valley side of Paluma, along Hussey Road. Anyone who is coming from Hidden Valley HQ and camped the night is required to park here. Do not drive through Paluma unless directed by the parking marshals.
• Please DO NOT park in driveways. We have a lot of cars to fit into Paluma so please follow the directions of the marshals.
Hidden Valley
• Parking marshals will be at the Hidden Valley Cricket Oval for those doing the early car shuffle.
Car Shuffle
The road into Paluma will be closed by the police at the dam turn off at 8.00am until 10.00am which is after the last rider leaves Paluma.
IF YOU DO NOT GET BACK TO PALUMA FROM HIDDEN VALLEY BEFORE THE CLOSURE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO START THE RACE.
There will be a lot of traffic on the road between Paluma and Hidden Valley so make sure you allow plenty of time to get back to the start. Times given on the website are realistic.
Sign in
All participants MUST sign in prior to the race.
Sign In will occur from 6:30am until 8:15am.
Riders who have already picked up their Race Pack on Thursday/Friday are still required to sign in at the sign in desk at the rotunda outside the community hall. The riders who are picking up their race pack on Saturday morning need to see the event crew inside the Community Hall in order to sign in.
Any participant who does not sign in will not be eligible for official placings in any category.
This is also essential to ensure all riders are accounted for at the end of the race.
Event Day Race Pack Pick Up
For those unable to pick up their race pack on Thursday or Friday must collect their bag on Saturday morning inside the community hall in Paluma.
Water Bottle Drop Off
For 70km and 100km riders ONLY. If you want to have extra water bottles at Check Point 4, you will need to have your water bottles at the Paluma Community Hall prior to 7.50am.
Place your water bottle in one of the plastic tubs provided.
You can collect your water bottle from Hidden Valley HQ after 5pm.
Distance to Check Point 4:
• For 100km & 70km Riders – Approx. 40 km along the course
• For 53km and E-Bike Riders – Approx. 40 km along the course
• For 42km Riders – Approx. 30 km along the course
Rider Briefing
Rider Briefing 8:30am at the Paluma Village Green (grassed area).
Riders are to assemble on the Village Green. All riders must attend and listen.
Race Start
The Start Line is located at the corner of Mount Spec Road and Smith Crescent.
Participants are to line up along Smith Crescent in their respective category.
- Blue - 53km E-Bike Riders will be first
- Green - 100km Crazy Riders are second
- Yellow - 70km Competition Rider are third
- Blue - 53km Intermediate Riders fourth
- Red - 42km Recreational will be fifth / at the back
Riders must self-seed. Fitter and more skilled riders in the front, lessor skilled/experienced riders at the back
Start Times:
- 8.50am - 53km E-Bike Intermediate Class
- 8.55am – 100km Crazy Class
- 9.00am - 70km Competition Class
- 9.05am - 53km Intermediate Class
- 9.10am - 42km Recreational Class
Timing & Results
The Timing and Results services will be supplied by Outer Limits. The results will be published on Sunday afternoon.
You MUST sign in and have your Race Bib displayed as required.
At the start of the race, you MUST ride through the race start gates. Do not go around the gates/arch.
At the finish line, please ensure you ride through the finish gates to officially finish the race and have your time recorded.
*Cut Off Time* - There is a new cut off time of 75minutes that applies for the 100km Crazy, 70km Competition, 53km Intermediate and E-Bike Class at Paluma Dam. Anyone who does not reach the dam by 10:20 will be shortccursed and unranked from the results.
Check Point 4- Any riders not passed Check Point 4 by 12:15 will be required to move onto the 42km course and will be listed as unranked.
Check Point 5 - Any 100km riders who have not reached CP5 by 13:30 will be short coursed onto the 70km course.
Check Point 7 - Any 100km riders not past this checkpoint by 15:30 will be short coursed and sent to the finish line.
Presentation
The winner awards presentation will be held at Hidden Valley Race HQ once the Top 3 riders have crossed the finish line.
Event Photos
Professional photographers will be at the event and photos will be made available 24-48 hours after the event
After Party
The Event HQ will be set up at the Hidden Valley Cricket Oval. We have a live band, Shots Fired, playing music on Saturday night and we have food trucks on site (Woodfire Delights, Smokin' & Grillin' Townsville and SES BBQ truck) to help you refuel after the race. The Paluma District Community Association is setting up a bar area selling drinks. Please bring cash for food and drink purchases. NO EFTPOS available.
